The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

Lamentations 3:22-23 (ESV)

We serve a faithful God. All of our lives attest to this. The past decades of UECMalabon’s growth and ministry attest to this. Our families attest to this. Creation itself attests to this. Our country’s history, with all its highs and lows, still attests to the faithfulness of God. As we celebrate both our church and our country’s histories, may our eyes be turned not inwards but heavenward!

It is easy to take pride in all our achievements, whether as individuals or as a gathered body. It is easy to think our ministries bear fruit because of our hard work. It is easy to think our church’s growth is because of our wise leadership. But if the Lord were not to bless our work, there would be literally nothing good that could come out of it! Thank the Lord for His mercy in using us, with all our brokenness, for His kingdom! We know very well that God has all the power of the angels to serve Him, so He does not lack any strength. We know that He has the eternal, perfect communion of the Trinity, so He does not lack any company. So, praise God for allowing us a chance to serve in His kingdom! What seems like something to take pride in is actually a humbling truth. Praise God, yet again, for being faithful to us, because even when we had nothing to offer Him, He offered us everything good!

Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations, and repays to their face those who hate him, by destroying them. He will not be slack with one who hates him. He will repay him to his face. You shall therefore be careful to do the commandment and the statutes and the rules that I command you today.

Deuteronomy 7:9-11 (ESV)

With God’s faithfulness comes the sobering truth of His holiness as well. May we not become full of ourselves as we continue to live in His faithfulness! Even as He blesses us, He demands a lot from us. He demands the obedience of our church and our country. As we pursue Him, may our lives grow more and more like Christ!

The Father, the Son, and the Spirit are all eternally united and eternally holy. They will stop at nothing to thwart those who try to stand in the way of His communion within the Trinity, and His communion with His people. Praise Him for this faithfulness, and tremble at this holiness! Thank Him for bringing us, the Body of Christ and the temple of the Spirit, into communion with Himself!

May we live in the shadow of God’s brilliant holiness. May our church be a haven for strangers and a home for our members. May our praise be poured out not with pride but with abandon. May our ministry be carried out with humility and earnestness. May we keep the commandments of our holy God with zeal and gladness.

Let us celebrate wholeheartedly the faithfulness of God! Let us celebrate the holiness of God, that keeps us true to Him! God is good all the time, and all the time He is good!

Holy, holy, holy!

Merciful and mighty

God in three persons

Blessed Trinity!
