Security in the Hands of Christ (Part II)

LYRICS (Click to minimize)

When I fear my faith will fail
Christ will hold me fast
When the tempter would prevail
He will hold me fast

I could never keep my hold
Through life’s fearful path
For my love is often cold
He must hold me fast

He will hold me fast
He will hold me fast
For my Savior loves me so
He will hold me fast

Those He saves are His delight
Christ will hold me fast
Precious in His holy sight
He will hold me fast

He’ll not let my soul be lost
His promises shall last
Bought by Him at such a cost
He will hold me fast

He will hold me fast
He will hold me fast
For my Savior loves me so
He will hold me fast

For my life He bled and died
Christ will hold me fast
Justice has been satisfied
He will hold me fast

Raised with Him to endless life
He will hold me fast
Till our faith is turned to sight
When He comes at last

He will hold me fast
He will hold me fast
For my Savior loves me so
He will hold me fast

He will hold me fast
He will hold me fast
For my Savior loves me so
He will hold me fast

Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father’s name bear witness about me, but you do not believe, because you are not among my sheep. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.”

John 10:25-30 (ESV)

This week, we continue our meditation on our security in the hands of Christ. We know that we are secure in His hands, because our salvation is found not in our own works or feelings of piety, but in our union with Him. This is obviously a life-changing truth. But how would that affect our daily lives?

Unbelievably enough, the blessing of salvation is further enhanced by the fact that salvation is not an impersonal gift. To be saved is not merely to receive a “ticket to heaven,” a term some ministers use for the sake of cheap attraction. To be saved is to eternally commune with Christ and—through Christ—the Father Himself! To be saved is to be loved by the triune God the way the Father has always loved the Son! Salvation is inherently a personal and relational gift. We are adopted by the Father to be His children, brothers and sisters of Christ, gathered around His table.

If you do not yet know the intimate relationship and communion of Christ, please do not wait! There is room at the table for you.

Oh you lonely soul, find company in the intimacy of Christ. Oh you hopeless soul, find hope in the promises of Christ. Oh you weary soul, find rest in the arms of Christ. Oh you downcast soul, find joy in the hands of Christ.

In Him we are secure, forever and ever.  To be in Him is not merely a transaction, but a personal relationship. No one and nothing will be able to snatch us from the hands of the Father, and there we will enjoy the eternal fellowship of God.
