Untitled Hymn / Come to Jesus
(Chris Rice)

Never Too Far

LYRICS (Click to minimize)

Weak and wounded sinner
Lost and left to die
Oh, raise your head for Love is passing by

Come to Jesus
Come to Jesus
Come to Jesus and live

Now your burden’s lifted
And carried far away
And precious blood has washed away the stain

So, sing to Jesus
Sing to Jesus
Sing to Jesus and live

And like a newborn baby
Don’t be afraid to crawl
And remember when you walk sometimes we fall

So, fall on Jesus
Fall on Jesus
Fall on Jesus and live

Sometimes the way is lonely
And steep and filled with pain
So if your sky is dark and pours the rain

Then cry to Jesus
Cry to Jesus
Cry to Jesus and live

Oh and when the love spills over
And music fills the night
And when you can’t contain your joy inside

Then dance for Jesus
Dance for Jesus
Dance for Jesus and live

With your final heartbeat
Kiss the world goodbye
Then go in peace, and laugh on Glory’s side

And fly to Jesus
Fly to Jesus
Fly to Jesus and live

Fly to Jesus
Fly to Jesus
Fly to Jesus and live

And they came to Jericho. And as he was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a great crowd, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, the son of Timaeus, was sitting by the roadside. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” And many rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” And Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” And they called the blind man, saying to him, “Take heart. Get up; he is calling you.” And throwing off his cloak, he sprang up and came to Jesus. And Jesus said to him, “What do you want me to do for you?” And the blind man said to him, “Rabbi, let me recover my sight.” And Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him on the way.

Mark 10:46-52 (ESV)

My friend, what are you going through right now? I know that there are many of you who are currently having the time of your lives. Maybe you are celebrating a birthday or a promotion, or a new child or grandchild. Maybe you are contentedly retired and are enjoying your time. Maybe you are on a new burst of inspiration and are more productive than you have ever been. Maybe life is just good, by the grace of God.

Yet I also know that there are many of you who are not having the time of your lives. Maybe you are coping with stressful exams. Maybe you are coping with unemployment and financial crises. Maybe you are coping with the loss of a loved one. Maybe you are coping with a myriad of emotional, mental, or physical pains. Maybe you are struggling with an assortment of temptations and sins. Maybe life is just not good right now.

That’s okay.

Jesus hears. Jesus knows. The God who suffered every pain of humanity in flesh knows the pain you are going through. The God who felt every sin of humanity converge in His own body knows the sin you are struggling against. The God who felt every sorrow of the world and wept for it knows the sorrow in your life. Not only does He know, He will also heal you.

Maybe you don’t feel His healing just yet. Maybe you won’t feel it for a while. But even then, you are not alone. Sometimes our God calms the storm around us, and sometimes He calms us. Take heart and rest in Him who knows.

Our God is not one who only seeks to clear your legal record and leaves it at that. No, He walks with you every day and feels every pain with you. With His life and death, He has both lived through your pains and redeemed them!

Praise God that Christianity is not a faith that annuls our emotions, but one that gives meaning to them! Every joy is given meaning in Christ. Every pain is given meaning in Christ. Every song is given meaning in Christ. Every heartbreak is given meaning in Christ.

So you can come to Him. Yes, with all your pain and all your baggage, with all your emotions and all your tears. He knows, and He hears.

Come to Jesus.
